GCC and Yemen Anti-Doping organizations
Today the board of directors of the GCC and Yemen Anti-Doping organization 16th meeting, hosted by the Olympic Omani commission which is represented by the Omani Anti-Doping committee in collaboration with WADA, begins at W Hotel and continues for two days under the patronage of Mr. Khalid Bin Hamad Al Buseedi, president of the Omani Olympic Committee.
Mr. Khalid Bin Hamad Al Buseedi, president of the Omani Olympic Committee expressed his pleasure for holding the regional conference of the GCC and Yemen for anti-doping in the Sultanate of Oman. The conference reflects the concern of the Omani Olympic Committee to support the international and regional efforts in the fight against doping in order to protect athletes and sports from doping which adversely affects the safety and cleanliness of competitions.
He added in a media statement, "In this regard, we would like to thank the regional organization of anti-doping in the GCC and Yemen chaired by his excellency, Dr. Sultan Bin Yarub Al Buseedi, president of the committee and the other members for their continuous efforts," appreciating at the same time the great cooperation with WADA in this conference. He said, "this conference which is held every two years increases awareness for sport organizations and athletes because doping has become an obsession for all athletes and hosting countries, noting that most medals obtained by athletes are withdrawn by doping athletes in competitions." He added in his statement that this conference represents an opportunity to exchange experiences and views like the pioneering experience which has been adopted in the Sultanate by publishing a guide with a CD to be circulated at schools in order to promote awareness among school students against the danger of doping and its harms as well as raising the competency of those who work in the field of anti-doping. He clarified that the organization is listening in the meeting to the efforts exerted by the specialized committees in every GCC country and Yemen to raise awareness and promote education against doping, in addition to the most notable activities initiated by the respective committees in the GCC and Yemen.
