NADA Activate Biological Passport
In reference to the recent World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) global communication to the worldwide local anti-doping agency, which includes the UAE National Anti-Doping Agency, regarding the resumption of full testing capacity after the COVID-19 pandemic has passed. The UAE National Anti-Doping Agency will follow the WADA recommendation of using the biological passport to ensure athletes compliance with the strict anti-doping guidelines. The Member of the Board of the National Anti-Doping Agency, Danya Almuhairi said that “the National Anti-Doping Agency is fully aligned with the recommendations of WADA and that they Committee is actively preparing the testing plan to be executed once the pandemic is over”. Almuhairi emphasized on the importance for athletes to adhere to the guidelines issued by the various health authorities in the UAE and to apply the principle of social distancing, proper hand washing and avoid gatherings. It also important for athletes, and the general population, to maintain physical fitness and proper nutrition. Danya Almuhairi noted that Play True Day, which falls on April 10th, is dedicated to clean sport and is intended to raise awareness among athletes, the sporting public and others about the importance of protecting clean sport. All athletes are therefore urged to maintain clean sport during these unprecedented times.
